Anlässlich seines zehnjährigen Bestehens blickt der medienkunstverein (mkv) hinter die Oberflächen glatter Displays unseres Alltags und fragt: Was passiert eigentlich, während wir wischen, tippen und scrollen? Digitale Infrastrukturen durchdringen längst unser gesellschaftliches wie privates Leben, doch ihre zugrunde liegenden Abläufe bleiben für die meisten Nutzer:innen verborgen. Dabei prägen sie unsere Gegenwart, von automatisierter Kommunikation über algorithmische Filter bis zu Überwachung und Datenökonomie. Die Ausstellung HIDDEN PROCESSES macht diese Strukturen zugänglich, das Unsichtbare sichtbar und damit erfahrbar.
Vom 15. bis 31. Oktober 2026 präsentiert der Verein im feldfünf unterschiedliche künstlerische Positionen von mkv-Mitgliedern. Die Arbeiten legen digitale Prozesse offen, überführen sie in neue Formen oder stellen sie mit künstlerischen Mitteln infrage – in Visualisierungen, interaktiven Installationen und spekulativen Szenarien. Im Fokus steht dabei nicht allein die Technologie, sondern ihre Wirkung auf das gesellschaftliche Miteinander, auf die individuelle Wahrnehmung und auf das Verhältnis von Mensch und Maschine.
Die Ausstellung und ein zweitägiges Festival mit Workshops, Panels, Talks und Performances laden das Publikum ein, selbst Teil dieses Diskurses zu werden. Den Abschluss des Programms bildet ein Screening mit anschließender Jubiläumsparty im STUDIO IIII.

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the medienkunstverein (mkv) looks behind the sleek surfaces of the displays in our everyday lives and asks: What actually happens while we swipe, tap and scroll? Digital infrastructures have long permeated our social and private lives, yet their underlying processes remain hidden to most users. At the same time, they shape our present, from automated communication and algorithmic filters to surveillance and the data economy. The exhibition HIDDEN PROCESSES makes these structures accessible, rendering the invisible visible and thus tangible.
From October 15 to 31, 2026, the association presents diverse artistic positions by mkv members at feldfünf in the Metropolenhaus. The works expose digital processes, transform them into new forms or call them into question through artistic means, in visualizations, interactive installations and speculative scenarios. The focus is not on technology alone, but on its impact on social coexistence, on individual perception and on the relationship between humans and machines.
The exhibition and a two-day festival with workshops, panels, talks, and performances invite the audience to become part of this discourse. The program concludes with a screening followed by the anniversary party at STUDIO IIII.
